I tested iRO and AnimaRO (probably based on kRO). Everything works - sound, video, etc. all work.
What does not
The patch client in AnimaRO does not work. It does not display the web page even though the Gecko HTML renderer for Wine is installed. Patching also fails - the patch client cannot download files from FTP for some reason.
What was not tested
I got iRO and AnimaRO working by following these instructions: 1. Install RO in Windows (not sure whether installation on Linux works, but I need them in Windows too so I installed them in Windows) 2. Download mfc42.dll and msvcp60.dll from the Internet (use Google) and put them in ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/ 3. Setup RO to run in full screen mode. 4. Setup wine (using winecfg) to emulate virtual desktop. Run iRO with the following command: wine Ragexe.exe 1rag1 Run AnimaRO with the following command: wine AnimaExe.exe Both commands bypass the patch client. I always do the patching on Windows.

You need vcrun2008 for gameplay work. If you execute this without vcrun2008, your instalation can be corrupt (the cause is unknow).
(This does not apply to openpatcher).
Install wine gecko package (the package name varies according with your distribution). you can optionally install ie6 with winetricks instead of wine gecko package. Both work well.
Download this file and add to wine registry:
$ regedit boost.reg
(The performance gain is high.)
