The game doesn't work on every actual PC either. I succeeded in launching it only on a 266MHz with a 3DFX on Windows XP. Never installed Linux on this computer, so can't say if it would work or not. It seems to be a hardware problem, and if someone succeed one day in making it work, well, congratulations! Probably the hardest challenge.
