The installer and the game both work. Detects the additional discs, too (for example, when prompted to 'enter disc 2'). Sound worked for me.
What does not
The game only worked in Hardware graphics mode (similar issue on modern Windows systems, as this game was tailored for 3dfx cards, which are now dead). 3dfx-modes 1 and 2 simply tried and then closed. However, hardware mode appeared to work very well.
The installer takes a long time to do anything, but it eventually DOES, so give it time.
Upon exiting, IWAR hung and would not close without some additional effort (had to kill the process). This left my screen resolution at 640x480, but that was easy enough to change back. I believe this error might have been caused by some kind of attempt to load a web page on exiting...but I can't remember for certain (based on years-old Windows memories).
What was not tested
I did not install the expansion pack yet, but I suspect it will work just as well.
I have not tried starting the 3dfx modes from the command prompt to see what messages it throws up yet, but I'll probably do that later on.
I have not tried any peripheral attachments (like a joystick). I probably WILL...because that would be best.
I plan on upgrading to the newest Wine release (currently 0.9.48) for my further testing/playing.
