What works

Installation works (mostly).

What does not

The installer thinks my fake Windows has a non-English language selected.  This is minor.

The installer shows no progress bar updates during installation.  Installation is very slow and seems to be inefficient, based on tons of thrashing I/O on the DVD drive during installation that wasn't present when installing in Windows.  No startup shortcut is created for the program, and when run from the shell, it gives an error message: "An error occurred when connecting to the selected data.  As a result, some of the expected data may be missing from the map view.  Check the error.log file in the application directory for detailed failure"

Here's what's in that log file:

When the application runs, it initializes some of the GUI elements, but it freezes shortly thereafter.  I had to drop to a virtual terminal to kill it.

Additional Comments

I had to install by first doing a cd into the directory where the DVD drive mounted (in my case, /media/cdrom0) and then running: wine msiexec /i SA2007.msi This avoids the popup query to insert the disc with SA2007.msi on it.
