What works
I finally got telescope control to work. It turns out it was ASCOM that was problematic under Wine. SkyMap built-in drivers work well now, although I am not sure why I didn't get them to work before. Hence currently all major features of SkyMap work fine.
What does not
Tip of the Day and Help are the two most obvious things that don't work. For now I find all the little glitches (such as clicking a date in a table) now work as of Wine 1.0-rc1.

I have upgraded my rating from Silver to Gold because I finally got telescope control to work. Now my only problem is to get ASCOM to work properly in Wine.
