Normal drawing, labelling, data input, manipulation and display.
Use of layers.
Saving, opening, automatic backups.
As successfully used in architectural drawing project over a period of ten days.
Activation code (student licence) successfully entered and registered.
What does not
Printing produces inexplicable subset of required drawing.
(Same drawing could be printed OK when imported into windows machine running Vectorworks free viewer/printer. Freeware viewer/printer at http://www.nemetschek.net/downloads/fundamentals/index.php )
Apparently printing can be tricky. Printing advice found on: http://intranet.rave.ac.uk/ict/helpdesk/VectorworksTroubleshooting.htm
Export as image only works in BMP format (same problem found in running 11.5 under wine). The menu offering TIFF, PNG etc. formats does not activate the selection of anything except BMP.
What was not tested
Not all possible drawing options were tested.
Export in other proprietary and generic drawing formats not tested.
While viewing a drawing the cpu usage went up to 100%. When a dialogue box was opened (e.g. "print" dialogue, or "about") then the cpu usage dropped to a few %.
