Additional Comments
The problem is still the Skin view. With skins turned off it is functional. As of version 2.08, there is no .ini file (not sure what version it was eliminated) so you can't just edit that any more. In Ubuntu Lucid, I was able to minimize to the task bar by clicking on amber in the task bar. I then clicked it again to restore. At that point, I could select view, click "Skin" to uncheck, and hit enter to close the dialog box. Then I went to File->Exit. When I restarted, it came up in standard window mode. I did a couple of quick test conversions to confirm function, but nothing exhaustive yet.
