Additional Comments

On install, the files are not correctly copied to the virtual C drive - this needs to be done manually from the CD to the directory (which the installer does create) off C:\. Before you start the game, you must apply the NO CD patch available here: http://m0006.gamecopyworld.com/games/pc_road_rash.shtml And also install aweman32.dll (available from dll-files.com) into the windows/system32 directory of your virtual c drive. For the in-game MIDI music to work (not essential), TiMidity++ must be running. More info here: http://frankscorner.org/index.php?p=mid Once I had configured it, to start TiMidity++ I had to load this module: (run command as root) modprobe snd-seq-midi-emul This enables the music but doesn't remove the Midi Error Warning dialog box, however.

HowTo / Notes

Installer doesn't work?
In order to install the game, you must first set the Windows version to Windows 95.
The install will not work on recent versions of Wine (maybe due to the dropping of Win9x support). It is reported to also fail on Windows 7 64-bit. However it is enough to copy the 'roadrash' folder from the CD and to add some registry entries:
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\RoadRash 95]
@=""
"Path"="X:\\1"
"CheckDialup"=hex:00
"ChatState"=hex:02
"MiniDash"=hex:00
"OpponentList"=hex:01
Set "Path" to your CD drive (e.g. "D:\\1") or to your game folder (e.g. "C:\\Games\\RoadRash") if you are using a NoCD.
Setting up MIDI musics
The race musics are in MIDI format, you need to install and *configure* a midi synth (such as timidity or fluidsynth). See the MIDI page on Wine Wiki.
