While this is kind of funky, I found the answer under Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, but it was mislabeled. The key answer to this is changing between Full Screen and Windowed. Here's how to get the game running; 1. Install the game. 2. Install the patch. 3. Use Winetricks to install DirectX 9 with 'winetricks d3dx9' 4. Find out how much video memory you have. lspci -v will help you find the model of your video card, then google it. 5. Run 'regedit' and add in a registry key under HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> Wine called Direct3D. Then add a New String to that of VideoMemorySize. Modify the value to however many MB your video card has. 6. Install whatever mods / maps you'd like. These go in your $HOME/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Ubisoft/Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter/local/english (or german, spanish, etc.) or the maps go in the custom_levels folder). As a side note, the game will only let you select 7. Run game. Once you are in the menu, tweak your video settings however you wish. To get HIGH texture settings, you must have more than 512MB of Video Memory. When you start the game, their will be textures and effects missing. Hit escape, select Video, then toggle off Full screen. This will work the first time. When you load it up again, it'll have the same corruption. Then you just enable it, then disable it. Then it will work again. Annoying, but it works. I have tested Single and Multiplayer (LAN only for now. When I attempted online play, all the servers I attempted to join had passwords!) Enjoy!

Some strange glitches as shown in the current screenshot. These are fixed by switching on and off Full screen in the video settings. When you actually start the game, press ESC, click video, and change the Full Screen option. Even if you saved it as windowed mode, you'll have the corruption when you first boot it up. After you switch back and forth until it is fixed, then it will play normally. Using windowed mode will not have this problem.
