A workaround has been added in wine-1.1.3, enabling very near perfect gameplay [see the version 1.0 HOWTO] in wine-1.1.4 (where a regression bug was fixed). Only relatively minor sound glitches remain.

The open source implementation of the game, which used to be a viable alternative to wine, is no longer maintained, and relies on some rather old tools and libraries.

Guild Wars 2 claims to be unique in the genre by featuring a storyline that is responsive to player actions.
