Nomad is armed with various futuristic weapons and equipment, most notably a "Nano Muscle Suit" which, according to Crytek senior game designer Bernd Diemer, was inspired by the United States' Future Force Warrior 2020 program. In Crysis, the player fights both North Korean and extraterrestrial enemies, in four different locations: a tropical island jungle, inside an "Ice Sphere" (consisting of the same jungle, but frozen), the alien ship itself (with a zero-gravity area) and a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier. Crysis uses Microsoft's new API, Direct3D 10 (DirectX 10) for graphics rendering, and includes the same editor that was used by Crytek to create the game. |

Crysis 2 is a science fiction first-person shooter video game developed by German video game developer Crytek and published by Electronic Arts. This is the second game of a planned trilogy. It will be released on March 22 2011 in North America, March 25 in Europe.
The game is set in New York City in the year 2023 (three years after the events of the first game), which has since been evacuated due to alien infestation. Similar to its predecessor, Crysis 2 will provide freedom to customize weaponry and abilities. Crytek wanted to avoid making another game set in a jungle environment, as were Far Cry and Crysis; New York City has been dubbed an "urban jungle". The urban atmosphere offers more options in how to progress and plan attacks. Players will be able to navigate between floors and buildings, as well as a destroyed cityscape. |

Total Annihilation was one of the first 3d real-time strategy games. It has massive maps, compared to Starcraft for example, the units really are 3d, rather than isometric projections, which were common at the time. There are aircraft, artillery, long-range naval weapons, super weapons, nuclear missiles, anti-nuke, ...
Even today, Total Annihilation stands out, and doesn't look dated graphically. The music is awesome, played by a real symphony orchestra, and composed especially for the game. There are two expansions: Core Contingency, and Battle Tactics. Total Annihilation on Wine runs fluidly, and feels like it is running natively. It runs just great on a netbook, even one of the old ones with a 800x480 screen, with the music, and without needing a cd player.
